Do we really need 2 months of NBA playoffs?

Do you realize that the NBA playoff officially tipped off on April 19th and if the finals go to 7 games they will end on June 19th? A full 2 months after they started!

The NBA regular season started on October 6th and ended in early April about 6 months later. So a full 25% of the NBA season is playoffs. That is insane!

The NBA and NHL always take jabs about how easy it is to make the playoffs and when you consider that 16 of the 30 teams in the league make it, it is hard not to take shots. That means that more than half of the teams see post-season action. Further ammunition against the saga that is the NBA post-season is that 2 teams with losing percentages made it into the playoffs. Now granted, Atlanta put up a pretty good fight against the Eastern Conference champions, but the real madness in hoops isn't in March, it is in the NBA where the playoffs never end!
