Ultimate Recap

I am currently playing in the AFDC's Summer Ultimate Frisbee League. I am on a really good team called Flick in a Box. We started the season last Tuesday with two games.

The first team we played was called Candy Package and was made up of a bunch of wily veterans. Unfortunately, their smarts bested our youth and athleticism and the whipped us 4-13.

The second game was a little better as we squared off against a balanced squad called Crash. After battling back to tie the game 7-7, we lost the next point and the game was called because of darkness (which was quite controversial).

Thursday proved to be a better day as we raced to a 10-0 lead over 3 is the new 2. And despite a score, the math didn't get any better for our opponents as we won 13-1.

The quick win was good for us, because we needed all the energy we could muster for our second game against a team that had scores of players and most of them were young and fast. In a see-saw of a game, we edged out AJ is on this team as darkness put an end to the game.

Despite getting burned about 3 times for long scores (by younger, thinner and faster players), I did manage to throw for a score and also catch one for a score on Thursday. However, the player of the week was a teammate named Caroline, who 'Dee-ed up' a couple of taller girls in the first game, made some tight and timely cuts in both games and got laid out in a collision with a much taller guy, only to return to action later in the game.

We are currently 2-2 and ranked #15 out of 36 teams. Our opponents so far are ranked, 12, 3, 31 and 25. This week we take on the 3rd, 7th, 28th and 32rd ranked team.
