Post-Season Conference Call Part 2
New Year, new standings. So here is where we stand going into the heart of the bowl season- the New Year's Day games. But before we get to the conference standings thus far, here's a little trivia for you, name the conferences with at least 6 teams in bowl games (Hint there are 6). No peeking.
SEC: 4-0 (1.000)
Sun Belt: 1-0 (1.000)
Mtn West: 4-1 (.800)
Pac-10: 3-2 (.600)
Big Ten: 2-2 (.500)
Big 12: 2-2 (.500)
ACC: 2-4 (.333)
Big East: 1-2 (.333)
WAC: 1-2 (.333)
CUSA: 1-4 (.200)
MAC: 0-1 (.000)
Ind: 0-1 (.000)
The SEC is finally on the board and as expected they are sitting on top with a banner day.
It looked like Air Force was going to make it 5-0 for the vaunted Mountain West, but when they lost their QB, Cal pulled ahead and never looked back.
And the answer to the question above is: ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-10, SEC and... Conference USA (CUSA) which somehow has 6 teams in bowls. Off to a 1-4 start, I think it's proof-positive that there are too many bowls when CUSA sends 6 teams especially when those teams have fared 1-4 so far. Personally, I blame Papa John's.
