We have some lovely parting gifts
Okay, the experts are sorting through the rubble of last week's games, so I am doing the same. Here is my Top 25:
1. Ohio State - this team IS beatable. NIU ran all over them, Cinncy was able to pass on them and OSU didn't take hold of the lead until late in the second quarter.
2. USC - passed it's first real challenge with flying colors.
3. Auburn - I really wanted to put the Tigers #2, but I think USC is a more complete team.
4. West Virginia - With Bush & Brohm gone, will WVU walk away with the Big East?
5. Florida
6. Michigan - Great RB, solid QB and other weapons on both sides of the ball. Hmm.... could this be the year the Wolverines get ultimate revenge on the Buckeyes?
7. Texas - looked good against the scout team this week.
8. LSU - Tigers did everything they needed to do to beat Auburn, but score more points.
9. Louisville - Openned up a can on Miami, but how far can they go without Brohm?
10. Georgia - Dogs defense and Special Teams are keeping them among the elite.
11. Virginia Tech - See Georgia.
12. Notre Dame - After scares from Tech and a thorough bashing by Michigan, Notre Dame doesn't look like the team to take the title.
13. Iowa - With Drew Tate, this team can play with anyone.
14. Oregon - A very good offense, but the defense may let them down.
15. Tennessee - Ainge stumbled, but more concerning is the fact they were held to 11 yards rushing. You'd have to pull out the archives to find the last Vol team to do so poorly.
16. TCU - Great Defense and RB, shut down Texas Tech's high octane offense. Look out for the Purple Menace.
17. Cal - Bouncing back from lost to Vols, but still not the best in the West.
18. Boston College - BYU gave them all they could take and more. Ironically enough, BC could have won the game but for two missed PATs, something that plagued their previous foe, Clemson.
19. Clemson - Typical win over tough opponent, but can they avoid tripping up against lesser teams?
20. Florida State - Actually proved they do have an offensive unit, but also showed that their defense isn't quite as good as we heard after the Miami game.
21. Oklahoma - Lack of Defense too great for Peterson to overcome.
22. Arizona State
23. Boise State
24. Penn State
25. Alabama - We'll see how good they really are when they get into conference play.
Also rans:
Rutgers - Making a strong case for the Top 25.
Michigan State - Took out Pitt, but can they keep up with the Big (10) Boys?
Miami - Maybe scheduling less ranked opponents and more I-AA teams could save Coker's job.
Nebraska - Probably the best in the Big 12 North, probably not good enough to win the Big 12.
Texas Tech - This is twice that a team has shown that good defense trumps good offense.
Georgia Tech - "Difficult, the future is to see."
We also have some lovely parting gifts for Brady Quinn, whose Heisman Trophy campaign took a big hit this weekend. Also on the skids, Kenny Irons hopes for the Heisman, Sly Croom's season outlook, Carolina & Carolina- both teams almost lost to I-AA Furman and Wofford this weekend.

You need to watch the videos. I will agree that the defense wasn't the greatest. But bad officiating doesn't help. If they would have done a better job the Ducks would have lost possesion and OU would have most likely walked away with a W. Not to mention a tipped ball and a wrong pass int call. And Peterson still looked good. 34 carries for 211 yards. That's an average of 6.2 yards a carry. So you put them at 21? Here is what we will do. You take a day or two and re-evaluate this and do it again. Don't worry no one gets it right the frist time.
First of all, I did point out that Peterson did all that he could to win the game. He had a great game. I don't deny that.
Second, apparently the officials did blow the game, but until the NCAA credits Oklahoma with a "W", they are still 2-1.
Finally, don't let MTSU make a game of it this week and play Texas well, and well see about moving you up. It's a longs season and I am sure FSU, Clemson, BC and Cal will lose some games.
Finally, JerodShannonPhilRick, since most of my readers are OU people, it would help if you identified yourself.
