Dogs win the game, Spurrier loses his cool

Georgia Blanks South Carolina 18-0

Another "W" in the book for the Dogs and one step closer on the long road to another SEC Title. Georgia's defense was up for the task against a maligned South Carolina team and that had the Evil Genius screaming all night. So without futher ado...

The GOOD:

The Defense stepped up again, holding SC to 265 total yards and only 49 yards on the ground! After 2 games, the Georgia Defense had only allowed 117 rushing yards. Charles Johnson stuffed Mike Davis (at right) and the rest of the Gamecocks running game, and even registered a safety after a UGA turnover that should have been a TD.
The Kicking Game was solid again, but not as spectacular as last week.
Danny Ware led the Dog's three-pronged running attack that tallied 200 yards and a 5.3 yard/carry average. Matthew Stafford was shaky at times, but was good enough to get the win.

The BAD:
Georgia had too many turnovers and made to many stupid mistakes. The Dogs gave up 3 interceptions; I won't say Stafford had 3, because I think one of those was because a receiver didn't catch the ball. Which brings me to my next point, Georgia is still plagued by dropped balls. We missed a 3rd down conversion (and likely a TD) and several other opportunities because we can't catch the ball. That has to change. We also wasted some timeouts and really kept South Carolina in the game when we could have put them away. Milner managed to tally his weekly false start.
While the Defense was good, Blake Mitchell and Chris Smelley were able to pass on the Dogs (23-33 for 222 yrds). That won't fly against Florida and Auburn.

The UGLY:
You may disagree, but Joe T's departure and Stafford's victory keeps the focus on the QB debate and off what is important- putting together a winning team. I liked what an SEC coach said, "If you have 3 QBs, you don't have one."

Right now, I would say Georgia's Defense is very good to great. The Special Teams are also very good. Getting back some guys that were suspended for the first 2 games will help- especially the Offensive Line. The Offense is a work in progress. They have shown flashes of greatness and moments of ineptness. I think we can get past UAB, Colorado (who looks pretty bad coming off a trip to last year's Big 12 Title Game) and Mississippi, but we must eliminate mistakes and get more consistent on Offense.
Up next, UAB, who gave Oklahoma a scare.
