Rank and File week 9

We're getting into the home stretch, so it's time to take a look at what teams have done. For the sake of ranking, I am going to try to give benefit to the teams that have won more games. By now, everyone has played 7 games, so it's a little fairer than if you stumbled in your second game and were 2-1. After the rankings, I am going to add power ratings.

1. Ohio St (1)
2. LSU (4) - I know this is a bit controversial, but LSU beat Va Tech, South Carolina, Florida & Auburn; name another teams that beat 4 ranked teams.
3. BC (3) - Clemson is their best win.
4. South Florida (2) - They barely lost to a team that is 5-2 and they beat quality WV & Auburn teams.
5. OU (5) - I'm sorry, but this team has the potential to run with LSU & tOSU, but when you lose focus to a bad Iowa St team you lose some credibility.
6. Arizona St (9)
7. Kansas (13)
8. Mizzou (16)
9. Oregon (10)
10. VA Tech (11)
11. Florida (15)
12. WV (12)
13. USC (14)
14. Kentucky (7)
15. Hawaii (18) - still haven't played anyone, but the are undefeated.
16. South Carolina (6)
17. Virginia (24) - probably overrated at this point, but they are 7-1
18. Connecticut (NR)
19. Alabama (NR) - from here on, it's really a guess at best
20. Texas (22)
21. UGA (25)
22. Boise St. (NR)
23. Penn St. (NR)
24. Cal (8)
25. Wake (NR)

Waiting:
Michigan, Cinn, Clemson, TX Tech, UCLA, Tenn, Auburn

Okay, the next section contains "power ratings". I took each team ranked in the top 15 of the AP poll and then calculated points based on their performance:
-3 = loss to a team with a losing record
-2 = loss to a unranked team
-1 = loss to a ranked team
0 = win against a I-AA team
1 = win against a team with a losing record
2 = win against a team with a winning record
3 = win against a top 25 team
4 = win against a top 10 team
Note: based on if the team was ranked when the 2 teams played, i.e. if USC got 3 points for beating Nebraska while if Texas A&M would get 1 point for beating the Huskers.

Obviously, there is a bigger bonus for winning than penalty for losing and there is a bigger bonus for playing quality opponents.
If 2 teams had the same amount of points, then the tie break was overall record. There were ties.

1. LSU - 16
2. Ohio St - 11
3. Kentucky - 11
4. OU - 10
4. South Florida - 10
6. BC - 9
7. Mizzou - 9
8. Arizona St - 8
8. Kansas - 8
10. Florida - 8
