Time to Wake Up
Dogs squeak pass Rebs 14-9
In what is becoming an unfavorable trend, UGA managed not to lose again. I know it goes down as a "W"- the 5th this year, but really it was more like not losing than winning. While many teams have been getting better as the season goes on, the Dogs seem to be regressing... rapidly.

The GOOD:
We didn't lose.
Kregg Lumpkin was one of 2 players on the Georgia offensive unit to show up for the game. Inspired by being named the starting RB, Lumpkin rolled for 101 yards on only 13 carries for a 7.8 average. Kinda makes you wonder why he only had 13 carries, huh?
The other player that wanted to move the ball was WR Demiko Goodman. The youngster had 4 catches for 71 yards including a 32 yard grab. Hopefully, Goodman can teach the other receivers the lost art of catching the ball.

Roderick Battle, Charles Johnson and Brandon Miller chipped in 4 sacks, Paul Oliver had a game sealing interception and the Dogs defense limited the Rebels to 87 yards in the air most of which (49) came on one pass play for a (questionable) TD. The Defense also made another great stop, denying the Rebs a TD after a blocked punt gave Ole Miss great field position.
The BAD:
The Offense was sluggish and inconsistent throughout most of the game. UGA only had 66 yards of offense in the first half and finished with a disappointing 248 total yards. The QBs were 11 or 28 for 115 yards and no TDs.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis shredded the Dogs run defense for 135 yards while averaging 5.6 yards/carry.
The UGLY:
More dropped passes including 2 in a row by Mohamed Massaquoi.
Normally reliable, Gordon Ely-Kelso had 2 punts blocked (one called back on a penalty).
The Dogs were flagged 7 times for 69 yards.
All-in-all a pretty crappy performance from the Dogs. Certainly not the type performance you would expect from a top 10 team and a team that has realistic hopes of winning the SEC East... that's why my Top 25 will reflect that they aren't a top 10 team (as noted last week).
Play time is over! The Vols come into town this week and they have shown that they can dominate at times. I doubt there will be a solution to the QB question, but whoever plays has to get something going, because the Dogs' offense is quickly becoming a liability that the defense won't be able to overcome against good teams.
